Kitasei tries to end chapters on cliffhangers, but they are done so poorly. Very tell, not show.
"...but 2 weeks before the boat is due to arrive, she gets her opportunity"
"...but later that night, she is vindicated."
It takes me out of the story every time because I can see the author at work instead of enjoying the story.
