Tales of Suspense #39 is a phenomenal first issue of Iron Man. Jon Favreau directly adapted the origin story of Anthony Stark into the 2008 film, albeit recontextualizing the story in Afghanistan instead of Vietnam because of 9/11 and the War on Terror.
