Just finished the story, The People of the Black Coast. Another decent story highlighting humanity’s fight or flight responses, in the event of crash landing on an unknown island with an unknown species. Not the best, but definitely enjoyable.

This covered the introduction by Michael A. Stackpole, and three stories: The Last Laugh, The Gondarian Man and The Supreme Moment.
All being enjoyable, and out of the three, The Gondarian Man was my favourite.

Finished "The Challenge from Beyond," which was a story written in sections by C.L.Moore, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, and Frank Belknap Long. I could easily tell the styles of the authors from their sections. Long's conclusion was a little disappointing, but the parts leading up to it - especially Lovecraft's and Howard's parts - were fantastic.

Finished "Almuric," and what a great, rousing story it was. In the tradition of ERB, but with the bloody brutality of REH, this was a great read.

Although the going is slow because of my PhD coursework, I am really digging this story.

Still going slow because of my PhD workload this week. Great story, though.

Slow going, not because of the work itself, but because of the demands of my PhD classes this week. Story is interesting. Character just encountered a green stone city. I wish I had known about this when I was writing "Ruins of the Hyborian Age."

Finally getting to read Almuric! Interesting take on the "John Carter" genre.

"The Supreme Moment" was a powerful tale of ultimate vengeance by an oppressed man against an entire world and culture. "The King of the Forgotten People" had some intriguing thoughts on the nature of man, leadership and power.

The first story, "The Last Laugh," which deals with the last man on Earth fighting against the robot take-over was a powerful statement (although it over-used the word "ribald") of the power of passion. The second story, "The Grondarian Man" was interesting in a clinical way, but lacked Howard's usual intensity (which may explain why it was never published during his life).
