Forgot to update last time, but there is starting to be some uncovering of personalities in the Khmer Rouge

A new teacher named Mek arrives at the camp to teach the children revolutionary songs for an upcoming concert for the Khmer Rouge leaders. Arn befriends other children in the performance troupe, including Kha, a fellow khim player, and Siv, a dancer. Arn convinces Mek to teach the required propaganda songs to save the children's lives.

This is a messed-up world... id definently be dead at this point in the story if I were there. This book is quite disturbing...
