Status Updates From The Forty Days of Musa Dagh

There’s betrayal in the camp and all the huts are lit on fire. The teacher convinces a few desperate people to get ahead of things and throw themselves off of a cliff. A French warship emerges to keep the final Turkish attack back.

A lot of the original characters are dying of old age or fever. There’s basically no food left and the Turkish military and setting of a camp right at the wooded foot of the hilltop. Also a friendly Turkish official tries to convince the leader to sneak away but he claims responsibility for the Armenians and won’t go.

Lots of reading today. The disgraced son of the Armenian leader decides to go with the designated messenger trying to get help from the Americans. He ends up getting a fever and turning back. The Turks capture him and kill him before the public.

The Armenian protagonist found his wife getting busy with the American amongst them.

There was another ambush that resulted in trenches passing hands back and forth. Eventually the Armenians set fire to half the mountain trees.

The first birth on the mountain and a plan to send runners out to contact the Americans.

A bit of a look into how the people ration their foodstuffs on the mountain and then there is a much larger Turkish attack.

They successfully blocked out 100 Turkish troops. This book is really reminding me of the War of the End of the War book I read in May.

I’m prepared to be crying and enraged at the same time

They’ve officially been given the order to march from their homes. The defenses are built and they’re now waiting for the military to attempt to remove them.

They’re trying to convince this mountain village to stage a defense against the Turkish authorities. They’ve mapped out the approaches to the mountain.
