The main Character, Eugenie Clark, IS a sympathetic character. The story is an auto biography and takes place from her perspective, making her relatable.

Character Vs Nature
The conflict of this story is that Eugenie Clark makes her discoveries in the ocean, which can be a dangerous place.
She spears fish for her research, so not only are they hard to catch, but she must balance what she takes (the fish) and what she gives (Research).

Eugenie Clark is the protagonist of my book and the story takes place from her perspective. The book is an auto biography and talks about her discoveries as a young marine biologist.

The book I chose for independent reading is called Lady With A Spear, and it is written by Eugenie Clark. I chose it because I have wanted to read it for a while, and figured now was a great time. The book is an autobiography and it talks about being a Scientist who explored tropical water. I wanted to learn more about her life. I also really enjoy snorkeling and thought this book would be interesting.

I have been wanting to read this book since I was a teenager. In my 30's I finally did scuba diving. I believe it's getting a little late to try spear fishing. Wish I'd read this book sooner. It was written in 1951. I was born in 1947.
