Another banger. Great stuff. 5 pages no paragraph breaks? Insane work.
This essay feels like I just met him for the first time and we got on the topic of travel and I've noticed that every place he tells me about he also talks about being sick there, and so I point it out and he smiles and goes, "you don't know the half of it." Awesome.

"A Little Slice of the Moon" by Summer Hammond.
Absolutely fantastic. I LOVE SECTIONING! The structure of this essay is awesome. Perhaps the sectioning is a metaphor for dissociation or the masks we put on ourselves in different situations.
Vignettes into a slice of a person's life are so cool. I love people. Everyone has a story to tell.
The final section is absolutely beautiful. I believe in you McDonald's Girl!

Cute moment of levity. Fun story told well. Nothing that substantial other than extrapolations and the context of the essay. Hits at a childhood truth. Probably something little me would've done.
I love stories connected to food. Very Ratatouille-esque.

"The Pain of Traveling While Palestinian" by Mosab Abu Toha.
In this 12-page essay, there is a hostile Israeli action mentioned about once a page. Whether it's bombs, snipers, or the IDF harassing & torturing people Israel continues to oppress and exterminate on the United States dime. I've never had to worry about my passport not being strong. Never been searched, my stuff rifled through. Israel dehumanizes people.

Excellent. I love essays that feel like there is so much on the author's mind. Biss casts a wide net, but it never feels shallow. Biss's trip to South Africa, Rian Malan's "My Traitor's Heart", and her own experience in America serve as a foundation to an essay about white liberalism, postapartheid culture and psychology, Biss's consciousness.
