Is the killer Samuel? I feel like the author wants me to think it’s him.. especially with his apparent distaste at streetwalkers and his buried hatred and disgust towards his own mother.
But I have a feeling Henry is up to no good…

I’m not a fan of Eleanor, but it’s so sad the truth that she speaks to Harriet - that you may not like it but the rules are different for women. Back in those days, men could do whatever they want and face little consequence but not women. Not even those of the upper class/ society. So let alone those who are not in society. My heart breaks for them!

“Their world does not bend, it simply removes obstacles in its path.”
“The colony is less than thirty years old; who will stand here in thirty years’ time, and what grand designs will have taken place in the name of progress? Transformations’s price.”
This is what colonisation looks like.

Yes Johanna for standing up to that stuffy faced rude Eleanor!
Why is it that people of supposedly “class” often are the ones who act like they have none?!

Really good start and I’m enjoying it a lot so far. I was worried the historic side of it would bore me but on the contrary I find it v interesting.
Being a woman in the past was really so hard, as a modern way woman, we must not forget how far our gender has come!
