Elizabeth I actually married Doctor Who (tv show, so not really for those of you who don't know what I am talking about) lol. No, seriously, how many women in this book would have just forgotten everything and married the Doctor? I suppose it depends on which doctor.

Susan B. Anthony said in an interview with Nely By in 1896, "she shared, "I've been in love a thousand times! [...] But [...] I never felt I could give up my life of freedom to become a man's housekeeper. When I was young, if a girl married poor, she became a housekeeper and a drudge. If she married wealth, she became a pet and a doll.'"

Widows in the Roman Empire had to get married after a year or two. What exactly were the penalties if they didn't? Also, what if they couldn't find a man who wanted to marry them? Was there a age cutoff, like menopause or all widows? Look at me, thinking about the Roman Empire. Won't last long.
