Status Updates From Catalina

not sure i like the stream of consciousness writing style in this but it’s only 200 pages so we’re pushing through

she feels like a kid pretending to be an adult. she keeps swearing and having sex but then bahves like a child and her narrative voice is also very simple and childish. i just really really dont like her as a character, i dont think she’s interesting or special and she just seems really naive. i just kind of hate how she acts like a know it all. some of the phrasing is repetitive and flowery but boring

It’s a modern day Bell Jar and you cannot convince me otherwise.

this feels like just a big monologue which is ok to me. good commentary on race, ethnicity, beauty standards and some history lessons on latin america

i just dont like the mc 😬
