Status Updates From Fenrir

The aliens FINALLY started trying to communicate!

Still several months before the rescue ship can launch. No communication at all from the aliens.

This is pretty much hard SF right now. Still on the ground, trying to build the rescue ship, with LOTS of details about how they are building it.

Good so far. Seems to fall somewhere between hard SF and space opera’s hand waving. I like the fact that the president of USA and her VP are both female but find it highly unlikely. Main character is also female, currently an ABD grad student, and it’s rather unlikely IMO that even a male grad student wouldn’t get the discovery stolen by the NASA director or someone on the team with a PhD. But it’s fun!
