Lots and lots of description. Feels very “artsy”. Not sure how this will go. Shandel knows the author. Shandel did not enjoy the book but won’t share why until I finish reading it.

In the first few chapters of this book I was reading with my former city slicker mind, 'The tragic premise is unthinkable...this couldn't happen'.
But then all the open secrets I know about in my new (4 yrs) tiny rural Canadian town came to mind. And the author is from Cape Breton so presumably she has lived this her whole life.
So now I'm devouring it with pleasure.
