Status Updates From Vanished (Callahan & Mclane...

While the search is going on Mason volunteers to be spokesperson for the family to take pressure off them. He meets FBI agent Ava who is smart, confident and assigned to imbed herself with the family during the crisis. Meanwhile Mason gets a call from his partner in Portland and it sure appears someone is setting him up for the murder of the informant. Evidence is appearing that he knows is not true.

Detective Mason Callahan finds one of his informants dead, he thought she was getting her life together but someone brutally murdered her. Then he gets a call from his ex wife that her 11 yr old step daughter (from her new husband) is missing. He takes time off to hopefully find the daughter but it appears she was taken on her way to school. His son is home from college and staying with the ex.

I read this in a couple of hours. It was a quick paced mystery. Ava and Mason's chemistry was a touch too quick for me, but the mystery itself was a good one to piece together.

I enjoyed this more than I've been enjoying the Mercy series.

I like the book. I’m listening on audible. So far my only complaint is the narrators. There are two narrators and they each do a separate chapter. What I don’t like is they also voice the other narrator’s character when it’s their chapter. It sounds ridiculous. Just have them voice their character! The female narrator does a much better job. The male sounds like a man pretending to be a woman. It’s awful.
