(after ch. 20) Oh, Mrs. Dyer, you may have a soul, but you are heartless and thoughtless. At least Ettie is a true friend. That, and two of the mer-sisters are reunited. But how long will it take for Hannah to finally realize the truth?

(after ch. 14) Was Edna being punished for child murder or for illegal abortion? In any case, her hanging doesn't make things any easier for Lucy. Or for our other heroes, who are running out of time. Also, I want to slap Stannish. And what is Nathaniel B. Lawrence trying to accomplish by finding the daughters of Walter and Laurentia? Something sincere or something sinister? And where is the mermaid Avalonia now?

(after ch. 9) Aw... that is legitimately adorable. Hugh Fitzsimmons, you are the best! And May is getting closer to her goal- all she needs now is more tangible evidence. But was Hannah the only mergirl on land to dye her hair after what happened to Lucy? Or was May just hiding her red hair under a hat? In other news, Henrietta "Ettie" is a real good friend to the mer-sisters.

(after ch. 6) Well, looks like May is pretty clever. One step closer to helping her friend. But yet Stannish doesn't seem to understand Hannah. Why do I have a feeling she's going to call off the wedding, possibly even ditching him at the altar?

(after ch. 2) Marjorie, you are the worst! But how did the Reverend just faint like that? Poor Lucy. On an unrelated note, I have a feeling that Hannah's relationship with Stannish won't last long. Even the wedding between Matilda and Thomas feels less happy as a result of recent events.

Also I am very much not in America at the moment and the vibes of New England and the Atlantic Ocean are making me miss my home in Washington DC quite a bit :(

I live this book and I'm so sad it's almost over I wish there was a fifth :'(
All of the characters are so amazing and the author packs so much plot and personality into every chapter.
I also love the feminist angle "this is your century!" was a really great quote.
I am enjoying this so much.

Maybe not quite as good as the previous three but I’m still obsessed with this series (sad about what she did with Stannish but I understand)
