i keep feeling like i'm reading words on a page rather than witnessing this story unfold, but i think it might have to do with my attention span and stuff rather than the book?

and another thing–
the deities in this seem rather readily helpful. not sure whether it's that they do want amala and kha'dasia to succeed and the latter requires nudging to take even a single step (watsonian pov) or whether it's too convenient of a choice on the author's part (doylist pov)

kha'dasia's attitude is genuinely so annoying to me. it's like she's perpetually engaged in her own self-fulfilling prophecy of making other people find her insufferable, just so she can say "ha, i knew it, everyone makes incorrect snap judgements about me". like get over yourself, put your bullshit aside, you are Supposed to tag team this quest

So far so good. It’s y/a recommended for 12 and up so ofc the drama and twists aren’t heavy but it’s just a nice comfort read
