Interesting counterpoint to the “Anxious Generation”: social media didn’t cause polarization, that had already happened by the late 1980s with the advent of the “religious right” counterrevolution to civil rights and people like Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich. Social media merely amplified the polarization by forcing engagement on people, which led to people picking a side.
