Status Updates From Alice în Țara Oglinzii

This part made me laugh.

“I’ll whisper it,” said the Messenger, putting his hands to his mouth in the shape of a trumpet, and stooping so as to get close to the King’s ear. Alice was sorry for this, as she wanted to hear the news too. However, instead of whispering, he simply shouted at the top of his voice, “They’re at it again!”

“Do you call that a whisper?” cried the poor King”

“I beg your pardon?” said Alice.
“It isn’t respectable to beg,” said the King.

In der Spiegelwelt ist das Fabelwesen Greif die Normalität und das Mädchen Alice das Monster, Brot wird erst verteilt, dann geschnitten.
Die absurde Traumlogik und die Illustrationen sorgen ebenso für einen gewissen Charme wie die Wiedererkennungslogik bei späteren Referenzen auf diesen Urtext. Als Buch an sich eher eine unbefriedigende Lektüre.

Much better now

All of the magic and whimsy of the first book is completely missing. There is zero tension and hardly any action at all. The wordplay feels forced. Carroll should have focused on what made the first book so successful in the first place and given the readers more of that. Instead, we are left with fragments of what could be a potentially great story. Hope it gets better.

Beim Kapitel mit dem strickenden Schaf musste ich erstmals die deutsche Übersetzung zu Hilfe nehmen, der Sprung vom Laden ins Ruderboot ging wohl über meine Verhältnisse. Anscheinend wird man das Mistivieh auch im nächsten Kapitel nicht gleich los.

Bin bislang angenehm überrascht, der bisherige Verlauf wirkt sogar schlüssiger als das Wunderland. Aber da war das erste Drittel auch das Beste.
