Home stretch and will likely finish reading this novel tomorrow. I am interested in the Aboriginal tribes in Australia and the practices of shamans or sorcerers when applicable. It would be more accurate to state that rather than a haunted house story it is a haunting and depressive account of a murderer's spirit seeking vegeance from beyound the grave.

About halfway through the novel. The author has chosen an interesting if not fascinating possession case, with reseach done in his his country's history of aboriginal tribe practices. The character of Ana remains problematuc for me because of her implausible behaviors in the face of a recognized threat. Plan to finish novel to determine the course it will t.ake

Readability has improved with the new developments that the plotline is more "possession" than traditional haunting. The personality of the main character has changed significantly with the influence of an evil puppetmaster. Ana wants answers to the nature of the "curse" but is losing things by the minute, like time, her patience, her control of what she says, her rising anger and rage.

I am at approximately a quarter of the way into the novel, and feel that this is a pivotal point. This is clearly a haunted house story, albeit the precise origin of the evil has not yet been clearly identified. The tale is unfolded in first person POV and manages to convey the main character's thoughts and felings well. My biggest problem at this juncture is actively disliking the female protagonist.
