This is one of the best private eye novels I've ever read.
The solution of the mystery -as far has been revealed - is so ludicrous ... so Batman & Robin comics circa late-40s-early 50s that it's in the zany category I have to giggle like a maniac but the in-betweens?
Oh, man - it's a wonderful read.
Ed Lacy was a master.
You know I'm gonna give this 5 stars, right?

I've been an Ed Lacy fan since I first discovered him back in the 1980s.
I own the original paperback edition of this but didn't want to wreck it so I obtained a Kindle copy.
Fun stuff so far with several references to stars of Film Noir classics.

I like the atypical private eye and the way the varied cases interlock to form a greater mystery yet there is something about Hal Darling that doesn't sit quite right...

Like many of Ed Lacy's pulp novels, given a lousy title.
