The way Newton writes and portrays his main character, Lucan, is amazing. Never before in a book has an author made his protagonist mirror and voice my own thoughts half a page after I thought of them. I don't know where the plot is heading to but until this point I'm loving this book!

I like how the intensity and interest of the plot keeps going up. Also, Newton's prose is amazing, he paints such a great cityscape!

Newton's prose is a delight to read. This book already feels a huge improvement over his previous one. Let's hope the plot is just as rewarding.

‘The other option always seems more attractive,’ I replied.

A point really niggled, if both men had been tortured. The usual reason for such brutal treatment while someone was alive was to gain information or a confession. It was odd that they’d had their tongues cut out. The tongue was very necessary to divulging information in the first place.

The layers of the mystery are being nicely built up.
