So much happened in 3 chapters between an unknown tale and incarnate dying at the hands to that man to the queens' guards killing the freed wyvern simply because it was happy to feel freedom.

Chapter 9 really embellished the fact that the Queen sees nothing but control for maintaining her power. Meera wanting to help mold Simran into basically the kingdoms token brown incarnate girl so she'd be seen less as a monster and villain even though she already is.

ALSO THE GARDEN SCENE? Vina is such an asshole I love that butch dearly. She clearly feels so much despite her jokes and I want her to have the world

We finally got to the castle and met the queen. The Queen is definitely a figure on the isle that has too much power over the people.

Punishing someone for love letters amongst her courtiers through DEATH BY WYVERN is insane.

Vina's line in this chapter, "Monarchy is a performance," definitely sums it all up. They're all food and just entertainment to someone who plays God with their lives at her own will. Crazy.
