I am really going to miss this

I really enjoyed my time reading this series, and this book in particular. I am going to miss the Circle of the World so much, it’s been a pleasure to live in it for the past eight months. What a joy, what a sadness. I love this series so much. And I hope that there’s more coming in the near future (or I will cry) but I still have yet to read The Devils and The Shattered Sea too (even though the latter is YA)

I just looked quickly through The Great Change (and Other Lies) and saw Zuri’s name in there…okay, I’m even more excited!

I can’t believe fucking Lorsen became the new Arch Lecter. Sorry, had to say it.

And I wouldn’t mind a book in Styria too. See what Vitari and Shenkt had been up to lately. And where has Javre been?

I saw some people say that the author is planning to write another three standalone books before writing another trilogy and I hope to god that this is the case. I want to see what Vick’s up to in the Far Country. I want more of Savine doing Savine-y things. I want more of Zuri but I don’t think we’re getting it. I want a book set in Thond, the Thousand Isles, Suljuk, the SOUTH! There’s so much to explore

for later. I don’t want it to end but I must know everything there is to know. There’s also the theory that Glustrod is the one speaking in thunder “I am returned” which also makes sense. And then there’s a theory too that says Bayaz is Glustrod and he’d faked his own death and if it turned out to be true, it’d be insane. And other people theorize it is Yulwei…which is interesting too!

I need to read The Great Change (and Other Lies) before I go deeper into this rabbit hole but I am oh so excited for what comes next. I want more. I can’t possibly wait for the next trilogy. I guess it is safe to assume that Hildi and Calder’s son will be two of the main POV characters, maybe Ardee or Harod too (or maybe both of them) I don’t know if I’m gonna start the short story collection now or keep it

I’m losing it at the idea that it might be Euz! That would be insane. People are talking about the narration in the audiobook version and saying that it sounds demonic…interesting.

Okay the two young women were Savine and Isold dan Kaspa at their joined marriage to Leo dan Brock and Fedor (?) dan Isher, respectively. I can’t believe I missed that.

But we still haven’t figured out what the gaping hole in the sky was. And the two young women holding hands under a golden dome applause echoing in the gilded spaces. Does that mean not all parts of the vision come true? Ah there’s so much to theorize about. I cannot wait to go and see what everyone thinks of it. What a masterpiece! My breath is snatched away in these few chapters I’m still not over it.

I wrote the number of the page incorrect in my haste to talk about Rikke’s last vision. I teared up when she remembered how her father carried all the responsibilities and burdens so his people don’t have to and decided to keep the vision to herself. I love Rikke. So much. I hope the vision is not set in stone but from what we’ve seen it pretty much is. I hope not. I really really hope not.

The first chapter in A Little Hatred was called Blessings and Curses and now this final chapter is called Curses and Blessings. With a new vision for Rikke. A very chilling vision. Hildi and Stour’s half brother bringing ruin in their wake and Bayaz weaving patiently on his loom. But who is the figure made of blinding light in the black door that said “I am returned”? Kanedias? It sure seems like it.

Sure Savine did some questionable things but at least she’s not doing thing just because it suited her. I can’t stand Leo. He needs to be smacked. I thought I’d like him that he became a bit more cautious and ruthless but no, he’s still the same spoiled, whiny, stupid brat. Finree should’ve smacked him. Hell, Savine should have. He really got on my nerve this chapter.

I was so tense throughout Savine and Leo’s. But I wholeheartedly support her. Leo is so childish and stupid, he’d like to think that he’d changed but he is still reckless and rash. What do you mean you want to take Sipani? On what ground? And the Union cannot afford to go to war with Styria. Not with Murcatto still alive. Especially with the fact that they’d lost three wars against her. It’s insanity.

This feels heavy. I feel bad for Orso.

I got goosebumps. History indeed repeats itself. Bayaz is grooming Hildi to be Yoru Sulfur’s replacement, Hildi dan Valint or Hildi dan Balk…I really don’t like this for her. And Jonas Clover/Steepfield is training Stour Nightfall’s brother. And Bayaz has the chain that Bethod and his sons and grandson used to wear ready for him. This all feels bittersweet. Can someone kill Bayaz? Is that possible?

Also, Sulfur getting cooked (and eaten) we love to see it!

I love Rikke! And Isern and Shivers. I really do.

I was right, Zuri is Ishri! I only have one question, why does Sulfur have blood? Aren’t all Eaters made up of ash or like different matters. I’m sure they don’t have blood. Unless I’m mistaken. It’s been a while. It seems Khalul has been killed or defeated. Interesting. I hope Ferro did it. It is insane that Zuri had been talking about her scripture teacher nonstop only for him to be the Prophet Khalul!

That was a hell of a chapter. From beginning to end. I loved seeing Savine fence with Jurand, it was brilliant! And then learning that Glokta did it all for her and that Ardee was not only in on it but also the one who thought it up in the first place…insane. And I’m ecstatic that I was right about Zuri and her brothers! What’s insane is that Glokta chose her to protect Savine…insane.

Arch Lector Glokta sitting at Vick’s dining table with the squares board set in front of him reminds me so much of when Arch Lector Sult had done the exact same thing to then Inquisitor Glokta (well except for giving him the ring I suppose). It made feel very nostalgic, especially when Glokta referenced his “we must work with the tools we have.” line, though I don’t miss Sult himself.

Glokta is the Weaver! And he’d planned for the whole thing to happen. Tallow too was a plant from the beginning. My head is spinning. And he wants Vick to succeed him…that is insane. Where will he go now? And what will Pike do too? I am shocked that Vick refused but I think I’ve always suspected that she’d choose herself in the end. I respect her a lot for this. Glokta is great! I’ve missed him so much!
