Lately I’ve complained about dual povs in romances. They’re unnecessary and lose the thrilling intrigue and mystery. But this book accomplishes brilliantly with the correct amount of false assumptions

She brought up Queen Victoria. So tight lacing is possible. Damn historical romance covers! So deceiving. How hard is it to dress the girls properly. I judge the time period of the book by it sometimes.

Oh also his concern for her corset. It’s not a problem yet. I think. I can’t tell exactly what year this is, but as long as it’s before like 1860s then corsets were not a health or breathing problem. It’s more like wearing tight form fitting shirt than a torture device.

Loving this. Having a great time. But like usual, I was yanked out of the story with a “well actually” with him commenting how he doesn’t understand the ladies desire thin figures when actually during that time plumpness was fashionable. They even wore padded at one point to appear plumper.
