This shit pissing me off it’s so annoying. Why didn’t shades just explain it wasn’t him not wait “I can explain” and THEN LET HER LEAVE ITS SO STUPID at times this book is so good but the plot goes elementary when the story needs to move along

Ok, I'm trying to finish ...but here are my problems:
1.the repeated "you're a thorn in my side" line is a juvenile + grating pun, and a girl named Scar with a scar is feeling very Disney.
2. Setting is the temu version of the Empyrean war college layered in with anachronistic things like lattes+karaoke I'm struggling to place in fantasy world, and the MMC just basically said he reads ACOTAR. Is this fan fic?!?!
