I don’t think this is necessarily a bad book from what I have read so far but there’s just something about it that doesn’t flow smoothly and it’s made me lose interest (plus I have a bazillion Libby holds that came in all at once 🤦). Not bad for a debut novel just a DNF for now, maybe I’ll come back to it

It feels very repetitive

Hmmm, yeah there is just something ever so slightly off. This sounds medieval times inspired so how are there tattoos? Obviously no tattoo guns, is it stick and poke with fire ash for ink? Also is the house magical? I doubt the abbey would have sent him there if a lot of stuff in the library would be useful to him

Interesting but there is something about the descriptions of what the characters are doing sometimes. It doesn’t always feel clear to me

I’m curious to see where this goes. Is this supposedly outlawed power the ability to see into the past and/or future and maybe pull things from it? That’s my theory since she saw the boy in a 20+ year old garment and then that slipped from her mind and it could be an explanation for how the painting was finished and dried…
