Okay the back cover blurb of the book and the shrouded figure on the front really don’t align with the thesis of the book so far—most cults are more maligned by society than they deserve and are often responses to cultural pressure that don’t actually involve eating babies or sacrificing men in wicker structures (despite ceasar’s allegations against the Gauls.) enjoying the primary source material.

the most interesting part of this book is the discussion on colonialism and how it’s affected yoga. how is a history of the sexualization of temple dancing in india, and the pivot of yoga from a religious practice to a health phase the most interesting and compelling part of your book on cults.
