I am clearly in the minority here - and maybe my opinion will change by the end but this is all wrapping and bows and nothing below the surface for me so far. I hope a good twist is coming and I can say I was wrong

When you have 12 pages (yes 12) of "praise for the author" starting the book you better be confident your readers are going to love this book. That is setting expectations pretty damn high - just saying
