This chapter talked about the input processing model. People are driven to understand the meaning of the input and are using any trick possible to obtain the meaning. They are also driven to use the least amount of processing possible. This is why lexicological cues are comprehended before syntactic ones and why cues without alternatives are processed before cues with more alternatives
