really good, hesse is a great prose writer and this story of self-hatred, turning a great thing into an inward attack on oneself, I haven't read something that scratched my Notes from Underground itch but I think I may have just the thing... And they mention Dostoevsky multiple times throughout, a nod to Hesse's great appreciation (like mine!) to the great Russian writer
