Status Updates From Wildfire (A Graphic Novel)

Starting to think this author knows nothing about any of these topics tbh

I'm trying not to be overly grumpy (and failing) but I'm a mere 12 pages in and she's said "deshoe a horse" (does anyone say that??? You pull a horse's shoes...) and mentioned "getting a badge" in 4-H for scooping pig poop. What. Unless 4-H has SIGNIFICANTLY changed that doesn't make ANY sense. This isn't the boy/girl scouts, you can get awarded pins for special accomplishments but not "badges?" I don't understand.
