I love a book that starts with a bang! 💥

We also see Rose with the other Cider Bar sisters more. That's lovely to see mh being recognized but also not keeping people away. Instead we see they them really show up and keep being on her side. They're especially not pushy. Also her dad is so wonderful when he meets Cal. I loved it. Going to miss this series. Very well done closer.

I love that he knows he doesn't want to try. That's not what needs. I love seeing different ideas about how close you can be to your family. This is general Lau positive but in this series more so as well with Mike too.

I would say it's 5 chapters at every stage. I divide into 4 stages. Either way, pacing is key here. Helps invest in the pair but also individually. Cal's great. Very chill. Takes things as they come. But even he gets worried and nervous worrying about rejection. But he never lets his fear touch Rose. Which is beyond sweet. He's also not from an amazing kind fam. But he's not trying to change anyone. That's ok.

I think this is a harder bk. We start with an authors note that doesn't use mh as a twist. We know everything we need to need to know before the story. I have immense respect for this consideration. We also don't have solutions to all problems. But we see a willingness to stay by the other person's side, listen, and help on their terms. Multiple times. The story has slow simmer. They meet. 4 to 5 chapters.

Aha that's where I thought of Peter. So it's Peter and Val from Man vs Durian--one of my faves and my first Lau bk. This feels like an ending. I started her bks when she had lengthy backlist and this was one of the only ongoing series. I have never closed out her series like this. On time if you call it that. Closure on Levi's mean friend. Diff type of parents who they could have been sans mh dreams. Being willing

Tis cute and really the perfect Sunday read. Ch 22 don't like how Cal's friends are talking to him. But he doesn't notice. He's more worried about them being right.
