The tension and ramping up towards the eventual Battle of Mactan is so good. Magellan and Humabon are such great characters here. One is weaving and the other is believing.

I really enjoy the world building that goes on in this 1st half. The diwatas, the alliances between the datus and the subtle cultural dynamics between the existing foreigners and the Cebuanos. This is great.

I am definitely enjoying the inner monologue of the Rajah Humabon. It adds so much depth to a random name in one's history book.
