Working my suspension of disbelief to imagine a fully funded PhD program in sociology that provides student housing and has a big enough cohort that multiple cliques can form... (to be fair: not my field! Maybe sociology is very well funded!)

I enjoyed the first half of this mostly but if this doesn't make some sort of interesting progress soon I might have to throw in the towel. The protagonist just gets more and more unpleasant while the narrative seems to increasingly suggest we should sympathize with her, while meanwhile there's very pointless "action" which doesn't amount to any actual plot progress.
