Today is the commemoration of the Tiananmen massacre, June 1989. At that time, the book's subject, Xi Jinping's father, Xi Zhongxun was a reformist-leaning CCP leader who decided to hedge his bets and fell in line with the repression decided by Deng.

If people in the party would have been more humane, maybe the massacre could have been avoided. Also, a better China may have been born.
