Status Updates From The Waters of Eternity

Hmmmm, kind lacking in a few aspects. Interesting ideas but I don’t know, I think being longer would’ve probably been better.

2 stories done out of 6, the first one needed nothing further but when it comes to the "The Slayer's Tread" I find myself really wishing to know more about our weeping friend.

"Didn’t your father test the experiment with the goats’ eyes, in later years?”

“And it yielded nothing, as I told him. Do you mean to insult my father again?”

Dabir glanced up. “I mean only to point out to you that even the wise are deceived when someone they revere mixes clever words with foolish ones into a single paste. In a book, such words somehow bear more water than they do when spoken aloud.”

Dabir’s tired look spoke volumes. “The girl chose its side, not the golem. It was a thing of stone.”
“But she said…”
“You were kind to her; who else in her little world was ever so? She showered affection upon a creature with no heart, no feelings, and imagined it gave them back. Perhaps she even thought it avenged her honor against Sabih. I do not know.”
“So she has killed her father.”
“Yes.”
"And her friend.”
“Yes.

“Flaming bread?” I asked.
“It was all that I could find on or near the stove,” Dabir explained, a trifle embarrassed. “And it took a moment too long to catch ablaze.”
"Nay, you arrived in time. Though I really think you ought to get into the habit of carrying a sword.”
"Perhaps it was apropos,”Dabir ventured with a sly smile. “Bread is the staff of life.” He was adept at many things, but his humor was often wanting.

Finished Marked Man, a fine tale.

Finished "The Waters of Eternity." Next up, "Marked Man."

Finished "Servant of Iblis." I really enjoyed this one. I love djinn and Efreet. Next is "The Waters of Eternity."
