Status Updates From Jackson Alone

Dizzying, meandering, chaotic mess. But what a hypnotizing mess; I can't seem to keep my eyes off it. Jackson, Jerin, Ibuki, X: four queer mixed black men, all different and distinct but interchangeable in the homogeneous Japanese society they live in. It's honestly way different than I expected it to be, but I'm enjoying the ride. Jose Ando's writing is electric, decisive: all momentum, every direction.

Thought it was bad enough that it turned out X wasn't just an edgy nickname and he's actually named after Malcolm X , turns out the climax of this impenetrable story is the reveal of a blackfacing blackmail-stalker crime boss who then explodes into a big pile of coins. What an. What an interesting piece of literature. I literally don't know what to say

Was hoping I was just reading this too quickly and missing the full meaning of the text but oh my GOD this book has a 2.95 rating 3 months before it's even released what the fuck 😭
