Biographies aren’t supposed to be written as streams of consciousness. Rather than approaching his work in any sort of coherent fashion, Mr. Burstein keeps meandering off in different directions, sometimes mid paragraph, like he’s a drunk man reminiscing outside a bar on the sidewalk. It’s maddening.
