Status Updates From Notes About Vodka (Happily ...

Well, we’ve time jumped seven months. And in those seven months, we’d expect some emotional maturity to develop in this romance, right? Wrong!!! They de-matured (is that a word? If not, I’m making it one).

We went from wet blanket characters to straight up toxic. Nothing like gas lighting to really endear me to a character.

I’ve got 130 pages left of this book. They can’t come fast enough.

The First Movement just wrapped up, so we’re time jumping (obviously).

Still no updates on the mom and daughter dynamic but sure, let’s have the estranged father show up and have a redemption arc completed in three pages….

The amount of weed use not only rivals the amount of vodka but exceeds it. This book should have been titled “notes about substance abuse or high functioning addictions.”

I have no new notes. The dialogue is choppy. I feel like that’s the best way to describe it. There’s just not a lot of smooth, connecting dialogue to help me really dive into the book.

I can get behind an unbelievable romance if the plot is still decent. But this lacks a plot that allows for this romantic development. “I just care for you. You are my world.” “But I have to be vulnerable to let you care for me.” “Please let me!”

Okay, we’re finally moving into some believable dialogue and more engaging content.

Well, we’re finally moving forward on the romance front, but this relationship is still feeling pretty forced. The friends seem to be great though!

The dialogue could be a lot better in order to help make this romance believable. I would rather the author develop the relationship as a friendship and camaraderie that helps the characters grow and heal. There’s just not enough chemistry between the MC’s.

Also, the amount of times she mentions Vodka rivals the amount of times we read Ithan Holstrom played Sunball and could have done pro.

This is the slowest burn. I’m intrigued by Laura’s family dynamic, and I want to see that expounded upon.

Slow moving. More male POV so far.
