I can why some people didnt like this book, the prose is very flowery, dense, and uses a lot of obscure words. It is not a book that you can binge-read in a day like a lot of novels published recently, but instead one which forces you to savor it. Also omggg the world-buildingggg *chef’s kiss*

Tanith Lee recommended this to me the one and only time I met her in person, I should have paid more attention, I was a bit overcome, she knew I was Australian and I thought she was just being nice, nope.

I found volume 2 and 3 of the series in a communal book box in the park near my house close to a fairy ring, so decided to get volume 1. Funny old world.
