Inside this catastrophic mess is a good book trying to escape. And finally at this point (the end) we still have no idea what Tom looks like. Probably not a bad thing.

Lowell remains a fuckwit. Tom is still enjoying his pity party, apparently his therapy isn’t working yet. And Sean remains kind and tolerant and deserving of so much more than Tom. You love who you love though.

Good idea. Put an injured officer, with mental health issues, in the middle of an undercover operation. Honestly! It’s a good job this isn’t a horror film- we’d all know the outcome then, wouldn’t we?

If they think Tom is mentally unwell (he is) and is not able to do his job properly ( he isn’t) then why haven’t his bosses placed him on sick leave and requested he seek treatment?

Seriously this level of emotion (crying) does not engender sympathy with the reader. Trust me. It’s actually having the opposite effect.

Sean is lovely, shiny and kind and too good to be true. Lowell is a spoilt manipulative, narcissistic little fuckwit. And Tom needs a canoe to navigate the river of tears he insists on creating. Oh, and a mute button for his whiny, woe is me bullshit.

so... we don't get to know what's happening, didn't hear it as a phone call when the POV was talking on it. didn't get to hear it when he told his partner...

I don't like the husband and that Tom let Lowell do that to Sean is very much not right. I will give it a chance
