some parts of this book are gonna drive me insane with how boring they are. i'm a bit heartbroken that despite the fact "folk horror x honkaku mystery" is like THE phrase to get me sold on a work, I don't really care about pretty much anything in this one yet. i'm not invested in the setting, the mystery (murders are surprisingly plain so far), the characters or the prose. give me a #shitbrix twist and free me please

Can I PLEASE stop getting tortured by the proverbial microwave oven of academia, I want to actually get into this book and put an end to this month-long reading slump already

堕天使拷問刑 is kind of really bad so far so I decided to go for a folk horror-mystery read that shows actual promise. This one's really dense so far, feeling almost like a Turkish soap opera with the amount of family drama that serves as a backdrop for the plot, but I'm definitely intrigued.
