It is in the optimism with which we contemplate what to read or write next. And in the spark of excitement as ideas fizz and fuse freely in our brains. It exists in the silent negotiation between any would-be writer and the blank page, untrammeled by a particular kind of fear. And it is in the freedom to refuse ideas, to reject certain accounts and to throw books down and walk away.
