This has filled so many gaps in my knowledge of Reconstruction and black history itself I’m in awe. Studying it now is even more fruitful and makes me so grateful for those who came before us and did the hard work, fighting the injustices and persevering. It’s really opening my eyes. And even though it took me hours to read 25 pages, I feel like the knowledge and perspective I’ve gained is immeasurable.
