Status Updates From A Murder of Crows

Things You Don't Want But Have to Take is a tale with a bit of surprise. Underneath the story of only what I can describe as a demon that she has made a deal with, there's an undying love between our married couple. Which wraps up the story portions on a happy note.

The Rock that Takes Off Your Skin is a tale that I thought would go in one direction, but went completely in a different one. And I'm confused. This particular short story just isn't for me.

The Strongest Thing about Me Is Hate is a weird tale that left me a little bit confused. I'm not sure whether or not to call our narrator unreliable, or just a bit flighty.

Not sure what is happening with our main crow...if he's been possessed by the thing in the bead, or if he's dying, or whatever. But I'm intrigued by the whole story of our murder of crows, and how it will end.

The Edge of the World is short, and very dark. Darker take on fairies.

Lord of Pigs is the longest tale in this collection as of this moment, and I wasn't really into it. Just wasn't a read for me I suppose.

Clutter is an odd little tale. Not exactly sure how to define the tale. But it was still good, regardless.

Inappropriate Gifts is a cursed tale with a different sort of curse. While it reminds me of certain haunted object ghost stories, this one isn't haunted...not in the sense we would think of it anyway.

Treif is probably one of the most unique takes on zombies that I've read in a while, since "The Girl With All The Gifts", and I loved it.

Inside Out is a rather short, and peculiar tale that could be about the toxic nature of certain people?

Haunted Room is a wonderful little take on ghosts who just won't recognize they're dead.

Forgot to update progress. And A Ghost Unseen seems to have an identity crisis. Is he dead? Is the lady at the end dead? So lost, but in a good way.

A Ghost Unseen: that was random. Almost something one of my classmates in my senior level creative writing classes would have written.

Family Gods brings up murder as a curse as a plot point. Interesting development. I kinda wanna see if there are a lot of those types of curses in lit.

Winter Fruit: What sort of creature is our MC of this short story? One that is constantly hungry. I did enjoy the story tremendously though.

Abominable: A really good second-person perspective tale of love, loss, heartbreak, and killer snow?

Vengeance Quilt: Nice little story. I would love to see an expanded universe. Like where does the mold come from? Who first started using "dark magic", and why does our father go by two different names?

"Be Good": an introductory tale? Not so much supernatural as it is a tale about loss. And the crows are telling the story to a girl of undetermined age. I'm looking forward to the rest of the stories.

So, so good.

So close to finished this morning and then the commute ran out. When you actively wish your commute to be 20 mins longer.

So far, this is startlingly good.
