搜到的译本,年轻机师。文笔很普通很日式,翻译要背锅……场面感没有电影强,但是人物的刻画更深刻。Gigi可爱!

Again, the man-hunters don't seem so bad in the movie ... so far. I expected much much worse, I remember mentally comparing the atrocities in HF to Lodonia in GSD (though that's mostly from HF book 2).

I'm eager to see the second movie now. I couldn't visualize the combat scenes in the book at all, the movie made them so impressive, I think it will be a pleasure to reread the combats once the other movies are out.

I liked Kenneth when I read the books, and watching him tease Aime Lane is very cute, but watching him torture and interrogate Gauman ruined his image for me.

I know he's vulgar by design, I know he's a soldier on one of the dirtier side of the conflict, I'm used to seeing impersonal genocide in Gundam, like colony drops or beam spams or nukes, but close and personal torture crossed the line for me somehow.

Aime Lane looks much younger than I expected. I've seen stills before the movie and I didn't get that impression. (He's supposed to be 22, he looks younger than Amuro and Camille in 79/Zeta). I think it's the way he reacts to people that makes me think he's child-like (and a very good boy.) I didn't expect to like him so much from so little screen time.

K told G that she is some goddess of victory and she is good at reading people. It reads like a gradual disclosure of what Gigi is like, K noticed this about her and he articulates it.

In the movie, he's shouting, like he's interrogating her, like he found out she's concealing something, and Gigi acts terrified. In the novel, Gigi reacts so calmly to accusation that she's concealing sth I thought she's a spy.

Hathaway sees Gigi's dash to Kenneth as a repeat of Quess.

Amuro and Hathaway let Quess be, Char manipulated her neediness to make her his disposable tool. Back in Zeta, Char more or less lets Camille be, even though he also said it's Camille's job to fight until he dies, so he's also a disposable tool. Char lets Reccoa be, and she bolted (and balked).

Char also supported cyber NT dev.

Is Kenneth using Gigi?

I can't believe they rode horses to beat the traffic jam and get to the Gundam fight scene. I expect modern horses unused to combats to be easily freaked out, and the mecha combat scenes are insanely bright, loud, and spectacular. I don't understand how the horses didn't all die of heart attacks.

But then Kenneth walking around with a riding crop finally makes sense. It's actually functional. (Unlike Scirocco's)

Hathaway is conflating the human tendency towards corruption, and 慰め for people who died during CCA. Why should the fulfillment of Char's exodus bring comforts those who died? How many were consenting martyrs for Char?

And then a tear rolled down his cheek, clearly this is about Quess.

The stand Hathaway takes is wedded to the death of Quess, just like Camille's was wedded to Four's, and Char to Lalah's.

I love how the movie made Hathaway ruminate on the things people say about Mafty while he lies down in the dark. I don't think this flashback is in the novel (they also moved Gigi's admonition to the early chapters.)

This is a good way to portray flashbacks without reusing footage. People also compare Mafty to Char, maybe Hathaway also thinks what he's doing is wrong, (like Char knew he was being wicked in CCA.)

I love the casual conversation between Kenneth and Hathaway while they waited for Gigi to change. They have so much in common, they might as well fight on the same side ... and they might have if they had different fathers, or different history.

In the movie, Kenneth was eating out of Hathaway's plate while they talk, and then he helped Gigi with her trinkets ... I hope he got ketchup on her dress!

By the time I finished the series, I ended up liking Gigi, but I disliked or distrusted her a lot the first time I read book 1 of HF. I fully expected her to turn out to be another Rosamia or Reccoa or Quess.

The movie doesn't really make me feel that way about her, she's a little unstable, she's clearly sensitive and a bit entitled, but she's not insane.

The novel went on at some length detailing Gigi's inner reaction to Hathaway's perceived slight in the taxi. I was put off by how badly she reacted to a simple gesture: what terrorist is going to openly discuss his troubles in a public taxi? I was definitely comparing her to the other unstable NT girls we've seen in UC.

The movie had her sitting back up and looking out of the window, with no hint of temper.

Novel sketch of Kenneth looked like Char, for some reasons they changed it in the movie

I also expected to hate the man-hunter a lot more ... one of them (the one who walked Hathaway to his taxi) looks just like my hiking buddy!

Rereading after the movie ... when I first read the novel, I kept thinking Gigi is hiding something, like she knows more than she is letting on. I didn't get that from the movie at all, possibly because I've already read the whole series, but she immediately seems more innocent but unstable rather than powerful and knowing.

I don't know why I'm annoyed that there's another young pilot releasing a hostage. At this point, I should just expect to see these scenes in every Gundam show.

I find the combat scenes harder to follow, I'm reading the book before the movie and I can't visualize the mechs, the ship layout, the cockpit etc.

Given his history with Quess, I expected Hathaway to be like Shinn, but he's actually the mature one here.

My first Tomino novel (I've watched his anime when I was very little and I don't remember anything). This is not drawing me in like the SEED series did. The sexual relationships in SEED/Destiny made me somewhat uncomfortable: I didn't like how many characters broke free of their factions over romantic love, I thought that's cheesy.

But Hathaway's sexual attraction to Gigi here is really creeping me out.
