Status Updates From One Winter's Night: A Regen...

The third book, In the Season of Light and Love was a very sweet story of Violette Makepeace and James Hanford making Christmas wonderful for their niece and nephews. Such a loving and heartfelt story.

The second book in this collection is called No Room at the Inn and it was beautiful. I loved Arthur, he was so noble and generous and loving to Rosemary and her son Tad. He has the most loving heart and Rosemary was a lovely woman. A great book!

This first book in the collection was Yule Be Mine and it was very good. I liked the characters and I enjoyed the adventure that they had. There was love, family and mystery all tied up with a Christmas bow. On to the next book.

This...this is just horrendous. I was expecting Regency romance set at Christmastime. What I GOT is a paranormal Regency set at Christmastime. Not bad if I was expecting it, but I'm not into a noble, scientist too stupid to double check everything before he starts an experiment, bounding like Tigger all over the place. Just no. Review to come, DNF. 0 stars.

So you're telling me that a scientist who deals with explosives is going to start an experiment WITHOUT checking EVERYTHING before lighting the fuse??! No. Just no.

First male character we meet, appears to be an adult, refers to his mother as "mama" in his mind. This doesn't bode well.

"In the Season of Light and Love" by Sharon Sobel. 2 stars. The twist at the end was obvious and the girl on girl fighting for the hero, while dealt with, made me rather unhappy. This compilation is not going well for me.

Are you KIDDING me?!?! Our heroine meets the ONLY other female character in the book who is her social equal (other than a friend in the very beginning who was mousy, to offset how awesome the heroine is of course) and they are INSTANTLY claws out over the hero. Not cool.

"No Room at the Inn" by Karen Frich. 1 star, didn't even bother to finish it. The "Hero" completely didn't listen to the heroine AT ALL. He was dead set on marrying her and pestered her CONSTANTLY about it. Her "no" was completely steamrollered over. Dude, no means NO, regardless of what it is in reference too. NOT cool, romantic or sexy. Zero stars.

You know what? The woman said "NO" MULTIPLE TIMES. It was only to a proposal, but would he scruple to listen to "no" for other things? I'm done with this story.

Our Hero, "Your husbands dying wish was for me to take care of you and your son. So I'm going to marry you." Heroine, "Are you nuts?!?" Hero, "it's a matter of honor. You wouldn't understand." Heroine," I don't even know you!" Hero, thinking," I've been carrying your picture around and look at it constantly. I'm in stalker-love." Reader, "....."

She just expressed how important her home was to her and our "hero" insults it as part of his reasoning for her to leave it. Smooth move dude.

"Yule Be Mine" by Joann Ferguson-2 stars. The mystery is easily figured out by the reader, which makes me doubt the intelligence of the MCs who took much, much longer to do so. Not impressed.

At 17% he was discussing something that at 18%, a mere few pages later, he forgot all about, despite trying to remember multiple times prior and after he discussed it? Again, not buying it.

Really? As lady of the manor, she couldn't create an opportunity to speak to her husband alone? Not buying it.

So far not overly impressed with the deducting skills of the MCs. Not a lot of people to choose from as possible bad guys. Snowed in manor and all. Kinda eye rolling.
