Status Updates From Maud: The Illustrated Diary...

Will be short to say goodbye to Maud and her family when I finish this! The diary entries and wonderfully amusing and accomplished drawings and paintings make the whole group of people really come to life!

Finished to the end of the fourth year documented here in Maud’s diary. What an extraordinary woman she was!

Endlessly fascinating! Kate, I don’t know where you ever heard about this book, or how you got your hands on a copy, but it’s an incredible find, and so worth reading!!

Made it through the first two years of the diary, and still loving it! It’s so sentimental, nostalgic, charming, and hilarious, by turns! A really addictive read!!

Maud continues to prove her comedic writing chops! The illustrations are absolutely wonderful!! I’m thinking our family might have to start a new tradition this year—jumping over a successive line of candles without extinguishing any of them!! 🤣🤣🤣

Maud is absolutely hysterical!! How fun it would have been to galavant around the Isle of Wight, getting into scrapes and then trying to still appear respectable!! Lots of references to Dickens, Tennyson, and Gilbert & Sullivan, plus the poet Dryden, whose works I’m not familiar with! And they’re playing Chopin and Schumann on the piano. ☺️ This family sounds like a barrel of fun!!
