I’m so happy that his mom overcame her own prejudices

Elliot,fucking hell... This chapter was wonderful and heartwarming,and heartbreaking… but the good chunk of it it’s telling us about the tragedy of Mont Blanc,the Halifax explosion because the park he was talking about is named after Fort Needham memorial. And I get that is the park shaping his everything probably. But why? A solid few paragraphs is just telling us what happened. It’s just jarring

He was mentioning Canada Day, that he wasn’t taught about genocidal roots of the day. While it’s true, and I hope more people would know about that horrific violence, I’m sitting here and thinking to myself: was it necessary to mention it as passing by remark,in your memoir? What was the reason there?
