This book is so damned over dramatic and flowery. It’s also too dark most of the time, which suffocates the small moments that are meant to be levity. I’m going to stop reading it for now. We’ll see if I find the patience to finish it.

The prose in this book is a little too overdramatic and embellished for me. Not every sentence or turn of phrase needs to be tongue in cheek or written like a sonnet . Most characters should speak plainly, not like a 16th century poet.
