It’s kind of funny how many times I’ve heard the story of these two from different sources.

While I appreciate not going into long tangents about everyone he encountered, a brief history would be useful. Also I don’t know if I should say kudos for not shying away from his time at the brothels or see it as a really weird brag.
Pretty sure it’s the latter. 🙃

First thought: it’s so heartbreaking what he and his family had to go through.
Second thought: will I be doing further reading on the history of Cuba? (I’m a history nerd so most likely.)

Reading the newly republished version, but looking through my shelf on here it turns out I added the original to my to-read shelf exactly ten years ago today. 🤯
